Gergana Mantschewa
Gergana Mantscheva was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1975. After graduating from high school with a focus on fine arts, she completed her studies in painting at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia in 2000. She has been living and working in Solothurn since 2000. In recent years, the artist has consistently explored questions of identity and alienation, attempting to recapture her «lost homeland» in her paintings. Her paintings have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Switzerland, including at the Kunstmuseum Solothurn in 2014, the Muster & Meier gallery in Bern in 2015, and the Rössli gallery in Balsthal in 2016. In 2010, she received the Rentsch Foundation's Art Promotion Award in Olten.
