Gergana Mantschewa

Gergana Mantscheva was born in Sofia/Bulgaria in 1975. After graduating from the Secondary School of Fine Arts, she completed her studies in painting at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia in 2000. She has lived and worked in Solothurn since 2000. In recent years, the artist has consistently dealt with questions of identity and foreignness and tried to recapture the “lost homeland” in her paintings. Her pictures have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Switzerland, including at the Solothurn Art Museum in 2014, at the “Muster & Meier” gallery in Bern in 2015 and at the “Rössli” gallery in Balsthal in 2016. In 2010, she was awarded the art prize from the Rentsch Foundation in Olten.
