Jürg Häusler
Sculptor and painter Jürg Häusler was born in Olten in 1946. He grew up in Biel and trained as a graphic artist at the School of Arts and Crafts there. He trained as a sculptor at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin and Hamburg from 1962 to 1966. Back in Switzerland, he was given a teaching position at the School of Design in Biel. In 1993 he spent some time at the Cité des Arts in Paris. In 1981 he received a federal art scholarship. Today he lives and works in Basel. Jürg Häusler has won prizes in several national and international competitions. In 2012 he received the prize for sculpture and object art from the canton of Solothurn.
In addition to applied art, his preferred areas of work today are building and environmental design, graphics and graphic techniques, sculptures and objects as well as drawings.
