Lex Vögtli
Lex Vögtli’s painting can be categorized as new representational art – with the particularity that she has developed from the second to the third dimension. Her works repeatedly leave the canvas – but never completely abandon it. The question of the type of reality to be depicted is central to her work. She deliberately draws the viewer’s attention to the discourse between fiction and reality in painting. In “Das Blaue vom Himmel”, Cornelia Dietschi writes: “Her depictions are handcrafted, medialized visuality. After graduating from high school in 1991, Lex Vögtli studied at the Basel School of Design. 1994-1998 LBK at the Schule für Gestaltung, from 2000-2003 she studied Fine Arts Media Art at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst. In 1998 Lex Vögtli received a teaching position at the Freie Schule für Gestaltung in Olten. She also taught drawing at the Gymnasium and the Fachmittelschule in Muttenz. In 2002 and 2004 she received grants from the cantons of Solothurn and Basel-Stadt. She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees for Fine Arts and Architecture of the Canton of Solothurn.
