Manu Wurch
Manu Wurch was born in March in South Baden/Germany in 1965. There was a small mound of red earth in front of her parents’ house, which turned into red, creamy paint when it rained and colored the streets, walls and hands – formative impressions for Manu Wurch! In 1992, she founded “Manufactur”, a studio for art and design in Fribourg. Since 1993, the artist has exhibited regularly in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. She has had a studio in Switzerland since 1996. In 2006, she moved “Manufactur” to Solothurn for good. Manu Wurch lives and works in Solothurn and in Vacieu/Italy. She says about her work: “Some people say that I work in a reduced way – but I feel that the wealth of expressive power that can lie in a black line is so powerful that I always try to achieve this density in my pictures. It is a universal language that speaks from a red picture – everyone can translate it into their own personal language and understand it – without explanation. It is the basic message of a color and/or a structure and not my creative will that wants to be represented. It is rather that I, as a service provider, try to realize this expression, to make it visible. Every material and every color has a basic statement – and that’s what I’m looking for.”
